The main event here in Phoenix will be huge, professionally promoted and a list of speakers already committed that is impressive.

We ask for your Support, as we have always supported every mission the PBA has endured.

Understand please that this event is not about RAIA-SouthWest, it's sole purpose is to raise funds for the Ramos and Compean families and to force this issue once again into the mainstream media, hoping the political contenders this year will make a positive stand on this travesty of Justice.

On October 4th 2008 RAIA Southwest will be sponsoring a benefit rally for wrongfully imprisoned border agents Ramos and Compean.

In 2005, during a failed drug smuggling attempt these men were involved in a shooting resulting in the wounding of an admitted drug runner from Mexico. For doing their jobs, defending our border, and capturing a van loaded with over 700 pounds of marijuana these agents were sent to federal prison for 11 and 12 years.

Join us in assisting their families. Efforts are underway to establish similar events coast to coast on October 4th. All money raised will be split 50/50 with both the Compean family and the Ramos family.

This event's goals are more than just raising funds for the families, we need to constantly remind the voting public of this travesty of Justice, and to force the Political "contenders" this November to make a stand on this issue.

Registration for the run is from 7 to 10am at Tosos sports bar and grill, 2401 W. Union Hills Drive, Phoenix, AZ Admission is free, but we are asking for donations to help the Ramos and Compeon families. There will be breakfast provided at no charge.

The run will leave promptly at 10am. We will ride to the state capitol at 17th Ave and Jefferson for surprise guest speakers.

Once the speakers have finished there will be a road march of bikes and cars heading up I-17. We will ride past the federal prison at the Pioneer Rd exit where Nacho Ramos is currently being held. The ride will end at the Roadrunner Saloon in New River. Live music, raffles, vendors, and discounted food will be provided.

PBA Recruiting Drive Update

Wow!! It’s been slightly over a month since our St. Louis meeting and slightly less than a month since the recruiting drive appeal was put on our web site. The results ???

13 new “on the books” members, a 6% increase in membership.

You guys and gals are terrific. I wish I had space to thanks each and every one of you who have recruited someone or let me know you were trying, and going to, recruit some one.

One lady recruited her mother. Another committed to recruit after being a PBA Minuteman less than a week. Another sent out over 35 letters to friends and relatives (they are not necessarily the same). Another avenue to recruiting is to volunteer to address civic clubs, church groups, etc. From experience, I know that the program directors are always hustling for speakers.

Any way we are off to a good start and every one of us applaud you for your past, present, and future efforts.

Memorial Fund Established for Slain Border Patrol Agent

Border Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar: Rest in Peace

A memorial fund has been set up for slain Yuma Sector Border Patrol agent, Luis Aguilar Jr.

The account is at the National Bank of Arizona under the account number 0163038724.

The address and phone number of the bank is 1800 South Fourth, Yuma AZ 85364, 928-782-7505.

The bank assured the Border Patrol agent who was checking into this that every penny will go to the family and only the widow will have access to the funds deposited in that account. He said that the bank is not even charging any fees for setting up the account or maintaining it.

PLEASE share this info with all your members and with any other organizations that you know would be interested in sending money to help out Luis Aguilar's widow and children.
