First - all the URL’s are already directed to www.criesfromtheborder.net and a letter has been sent to Mercedes telling her this and asking her where she wants the URL’s transferred permanently see attached email to Mercedes on 5/27/07. We bought them to protect them, paid for them and GAVE THEM TO HER FREE OF CHARGE! It was done to protect a fellow patriot. We sent follow up emails Tuesday to arrange the transfer and Mercedes has not responded.
URL’s are regularly acquired so someone does not get them to protect the URL from being acquired by URL extortionists. In the case of Cries we noticed that Mercedes only acquired criesfromtheborder.net so we picked up .com and .org since we were promoting the DVD.
She had registered www.criesfromtheborder.net on 10/27/2005 and had not taken .com or .org We picked up Criesfromtheborder.com and .org on 3/15/ 2007
In the case of www.thefenceandthefire.com Mercedes asked us to promote her new movie through Bob Wright as she was to be on CNN. She said “it was a commercial for MCDC” As far as we knew she had not acquired any URL’s and was intending to make a big media splash on 5/1 to announce it and have people download the movie. We acquired them to protect them and give them to her since she does not normally think about such things. We have always and continue to respect Mercedes and her work. Now Stacey O’Connell has “poisoned her” which prompted her to go and finally register thefenceandthefire.com 4 weeks after the her and Bob’s request to promote it. PS we did send a blast to promote the CNN interview.
Final item -- I let her know out of concern for her and the protection of her work that doing a streaming download was not secure an that people could copy and use any portion of the movie they wanted and she may not be able to prevent it.
We have been promoting her DVD and Mercedes has a contract that she negotiated with Genius Products, LLC a company she located. Genius edited the film at least three times to make it work. We have no relationship with Genius except that we order the DVD’s from them and they ship them to TX at ACI.
We send out emails and post an ad for the DVD and donations are collected and DVD’s are sent to the donors. This happens every day and we are up to date with mailing DVD to those requesting them. See donate page https://secure.responseenterprises.com/border_dvd/?a=100
Response enterprises also intended to send out a direct mail piece at their cost promoting the DVD. Response wanted Mercedes to sign the offer letter. We contacted Genius to se if this was acceptable. We found out through the process that Mercedes had signed away all her rights to her signature and promotion to Genius and since Genius had given approval to do the promotion did not even need to consult Mercedes. Out of respect for Mercedes we contacted her gave her the copy which she spent 4 months reworking. Response was in the final stages of rewrite and direct mailing. We also helped Mercedes with some research on quotes for her newest film.
Mercedes has told us she is not getting paid however when we checked with Genius the indicated that they were honoring her contract. We have no direct relationship with Mercedes on anything and we only promote the DVD to generate donations for MCDC. All DVD's aquired by MCDC were purchased directly from Genius, they were paid for in full.
