I am writing you today to respectfully express my absolute shock at the termination of valuable MCDC leaders, and to implore you to reconsider this abrupt and unnecessary action for the sake of the cause, the reputation of MCDC, and most importantly out of respect for these patriotic men who have contributed so much to the organization.
By way of background, I am a proud minuteman and financial contributor to MCDC. I have participated in three of the month-long border operations; once in Arizona, and twice in New Mexico under Bob Wright. I believe that the majority of people who donate, whether financially or with their time, view MCDC as a group of patriotic Americans who are standing together for a just cause– our nation’s sovereignty, not as a corporation wrought with bureaucracy. The dismissal of these men, who have been integral to the growth and success of MCDC, mirrors the political underhandedness of our government, something for which Americans have grown tired, and you yourself have espoused to deplore.
My experiences with the minutemen have given me pride and a sense of unity. My fear is that this rift will provide the OBL, the media, and our government the ammunition they have been so desperately seeking these past few years. In addition, this only distracts from the real issue-- securing our nation’s borders.
I have met you personally, and I have great respect for your foresight and your dedication to this cause. You deserve accolades for creating a pathway for Americans to get involved through MCDC, but the volunteers have MADE this organization. Where would MCDC be without the volunteers, the very volunteers you callously fired. MCDC would have ceased to exist long ago, if people like Bob Wright, and the other MCDC leaders, hadn’t made what I can only imagine as huge personal sacrifices to help lead this charge.
Lastly, I have come to know and respect Bob Wright over the last couple of years. My experience at the border was extremely positive due to Bob’s leadership ability and style. Bob has contributed endless hours and money to make the New Mexico operation a success. He always exuded a strong sense of commitment to MCDC, and garnered respect and confidence from the volunteers. It is unfathomable to me that this man, this leader, and this unfaltering and faithful ambassador for MCDC was terminated.
In good conscience, I must discontinue support for MCDC until Bob, and the other dispelled leaders are re-instated and given the opportunity and forum to have their concerns addressed. To ignore their request not only shows a blatant disregard and disrespect for these volunteers, and for the entire organization, but also endangers the future of MCDC in my opinion.
