My wife and I have indeed faxed in our resignations to the phone number given on that large batch of memos sent back and forth between you and the chapter leaders. After we saw that on the internet at http://www.libertypost.org , and noticed that it had been copied and posted around the net, (and now is featured in a story in the Sierra Vista Herald), I decided that it was time for me to end my association with the MCDC.
Regardless of how all of this pans out, as a loyal Minuteman and as someone who very visibly defended you and the MCDC for years against all sorts of attacks, these things were surprising news to me. Additionally, because of my visibility on the forums, I also found myself under attack as a spokesman for the organization.
For me personally I have to say that the treatment of Pineapple 6 (David Jones) wasn’t acceptable. He was a mentor on the lines since I joined the organization, and has become a personal friend. Since I consider him a good friend, it was hard for me to accept that he was apparently demoted to what amounted to the permanent latrine orderly (I may be exaggerating, but apparently not by much) in camp. If anything, this situation was possibly the catalyst for the current situation as it now stands. I place a high value on friendship, and believe that if I were ever in trouble on Pineapple’s line he would have risked his life in order to save mine. At the same time I had Lance Altherr telling me I was on the list as a line leader, and for me to be considered for such a position when Pineapple wasn’t good enough to do it was just too much.
This, however, is my PERSONAL take on things. As for the current situation, I’m not willing to take a bunch of abuse from people online for sticking up for the MCDC without knowing anything as to what higher management knows; additionally as a GOP state committeeman on record as being against illegal immigration I just don’t want to be in the middle of what seems to be an undesirable situation.
If we faxed our resignations to the wrong fax number, I can confirm it here: MMID # FORD85012417, and my wife MID # FORD85014683, hereby end our affiliation with the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, effective immediately. If it hasn’t already been done, you may have Admin terminate our memberships.
I can’t speak for all the State Directors and Chapter Leaders on that list, but I can say that it was indeed a shock to both of us to see this come up, and I believe it’s best for us to take this action. I have a lot of respect for many of the people on that list, and if they are this concerned about the situation, I have to consider that their concerns deserve consideration.
